Please don't call it a "hunting preserve"... it is a large and beautiful nature preserve on which a specific hunting club volunteers much time to maintenance and in return receives exclusive rights to hunting there during deer shotgun season.
Beautiful long trails. Easy hikes. Very scenic and quiet.
Great place for a long hikes. There is a nice 6 mile loop. The path got flooded and the rangers redirected you with signs that were done well. Beautiful bridges, huge Adirondack chairs, wildlife, and beautiful scenery.Bad part is there are strawberry insects that bite so bad and bug spray doesn't help. Not the parks fault but it is soo bad. Ended up with multiple purple swollen bites. Lastly no port a pot in parking lot. A 6 mile hike is a while with out a bathroom.
Beautiful trails through the pine barrens - full of wildlife and scenic vistas. A must visit!
This is a great hike, if you take the red loop I think it was about 6.5 miles. Lots to see around this old cranberry bog and the path leads you right thru an old blueberry farm area that you can grab a snack as you hike. Lots of bugs and some sunny areas so dress/prepare accordingly. No restrooms on site so go before you show.
